Three points for Maple Leafs after third-period-win

The Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the home-team Carolina Hurricanes 3-1. The game was all square after two periods but in the third Toronto managed to pull out a win.

The hosting Hurricanes took the lead in the first period, with a goal from Stefan Noesen.

Calle Järnkrok scored late in the second period, assisted by Pierre Engvall and Justin Holl.

John Tavares took the lead in the third period, assisted by Mitch Marner and Nicholas Robertson.

William Nylander increased the lead to 3-1 eight minutes later, assisted by Auston Matthews.

Carolina is now 8–3–1, while Toronto improves to 7–4–2.

Carolina is now in second place in the table, while Toronto is in second place.
