Otto Stenberg shines on smaller ice at Five Nations

PLYMOUTH, Mich. – Otto Stenberg loves playing on North American ice. 

Stenberg had a strong showing at the 2022 Under-18 Five Nations tournament here in Michigan, which was played on a smaller surface than he’s been accustomed to in Europe. 

“When you have the puck in the o-zone it feels a bit smaller than back home in Sweden,” Stenberg said. “I feel like I can shoot from anywhere. I like it.”

Stenberg, 5-foot-11 and 180 pounds, plays to his physical strengths. He’s unafraid to go through the tough areas and he’s hard to pin down. He seems to stay away from the big hit and that’s a gift that many NHL stars have. He’s sturdy, and what keeps him out of trouble is his edge work. It’s noticeable especially on the power play.
