Juuso Pärssinen's ascension from a seventh-round pick to an everyday role in the NHL as a 21-year-old has been one of the more fascinating development success stories in recent memory.
There wasn't anything remarkable about his game as an 18-year-old playing Finnish junior hockey, with 18 draft-eligible skaters who produced at a higher rate on a per-game basis. While he already had notable off-puck details, offensively he was quite often overshadowed by fellow draft-eligible teammate Aarne Intonen.
Just two years later, Pärssinen finished second in points on TPS' Liiga team, arguably growing into the best young two-way centre in the Finnish men's league, generating remarkable value on both sides of the puck.
