Scout's Notebook: Surprise NCAA standouts

There’s just something different about college hockey. 

Yet, it’s somehow even more exciting this year, with draft-eligible Adam Fantilli scoring over half a point per game, Minnesota’s top-line putting on a show every single weekend, and tons of surprises. 

On the topic of surprises, how about Merrimack being the top team in Hockey East or St. Cloud leading the NCHC? Ryan McAllister, a first-year player from the Brooks Bandits, leads the NCAA in scoring with a staggering 33 points in 20 games. 

In this edition of scout’s notebook, we take a close look at some of the NCAA’s biggest surprises this year, ranging from Ethan Edwards to Hunter McKown.
