Take Town: Break is over

Don't have a ton to say about the Bo Horvat deal.

I think if you're going to invest that much money in two guys who seem to be pretty decent but not world-beating No. 1 centers, that's better than having a clear No. 1 who's slightly better than Horvat or Mathew Barzal, and then a No. 2 who is quite a bit worse than either of them.

Obviously, the Islanders have a lot of roster problems, but they've got a couple good defensemen and an elite goaltender in addition to two All-Star type centers.

I cannot be mad at the deal in a vacuum. But then you add in where the team's at in its lifecycle of being able to meaningfully compete for anything in the East, and it's like, "Well, I guess they gotta keep the building full?"
