Unnumbered Thoughts: McDavid's dominance, and Adam Fox on position-less hockey

A. I was at the Detroit Red Wings game against the Calgary Flames on Thursday night. 

There were 23 scouts from 19 different teams, and if you count the Red Wings and Flames brass in the building, more than two-thirds of the league was watching Detroit and Calgary in person. 

And it really meant nothing for the trade deadline.  

“It feels like World Junior with the number of scouts or something like that, but honestly, it’s not that big of a deal,” one Western Conference scout said. “It’s funny, this is one of those games where I’m sure you could do an eyeball emoji or something and tweet it, but really, I was going to be at this game from the start of the season.”

Another concurred. 

“It made a lot of sense to do Detroit this weekend, game here tonight, see Michigan and Michigan State tomorrow
