Taking Stock: A look at the New York Rangers' prospect pool ahead of the 2023 NHL trade deadline
The New York Rangers already made their big splash ahead of the trade deadline. The addition of Vladimir Tarasenko will bolster their top-six and push other forwards down the lineup in spots that better suit their skill sets.
They also made a smaller move along the margins, bringing Tyler Motte back into the fold on Sunday, in exchange for Julien Gauthier and a conditional draft pick. That doesn't necessarily mean the team is done making deals, though.
They have some players that don't quite fit their roster – like Vitali Kravtsov – and they probably still want to furnish their depth to help cement their playoff spot and sustain a long run in the postseason.
The good news is that they're well-equipped to make those additions ahead of the trade deadline, with many of their developing players likely to draw significant interest. A change of scenery and a more substantial role in another team's lineup could be all they need to unlock their potential.
