Fantasy Focus: Mining the waiver wire ahead of the NHL trade deadline

For the majority of fantasy hockey leagues, this is the beginning of the second season.

The real games begin now. And that means every lineup decision holds significant repercussions. Who you pick up, who you dress, who you pass on. You need to milk every point and fill every category to its fullest.

And so, we take another trip down the elevator shaft to mine the waiver wire and unearth some potential meal makers. Yum yum.

We’re going to do a little double trouble theme this week where I’ll highlight a pair of players from a few teams that boast favourable schedules and could provide you that much-needed spark. And some one-offs, because I’m no slave to rules and regulations.

As always, the roster numbers come from Fantrax leagues, but as we’ve entered the stretch drive, I’ve upped my qualifiers from 50 percent to around 60 percent rostered. This gives us a few more options and will showcase some more highly sought-after type players.
