Maple Leafs trade Rasmus Sandin to the Washington Capitals

The trade deadline is Friday, right?

Well there was another move on a wild Tuesday with Rasmus Sandin moving from the Toronto Maple Leafs to the Washington Capitals for Erik Gustafsson and a first-round pick.

Sandin is a 22-year-old defenceman with term, so while Washington has been selling off expiring assets, this move at least fits with the long-term building view.

For Toronto, Gustafsson is a veteran defenceman with an expiring contract that has 38 points (7 goals, 31 assists) in 60 games.

Sandin had 20 points (4 goals, 16 assists) in 52 games for Toronto this season.

For the Maple Leafs the move also brings back a first-round pick it spent while making other moves up front.
