Fantasy Focus: Mining the waiver wire for players looking at new opportunities with new teams

We’re back again for another meal at the old Waiver Wire cafe. Some of the baked goods are a day or two old and should be avoided at all costs. But there’s always - always a few juicy morsels tucked away. You just need to look smartly for them. And that’s where we come in.

This week is as important as last week. Odds are you’re into the fantasy playoff season now and are trying to maximize every single point possible.

Even if you’re out of the mix for a championship, you may be playing for the best pick possible (as I am in one of my leagues). You tank during the regular season for a chance to nab Connor Bedard, but now you have to win in order to get him.

The flip has been switched and finding some value is very important.

This week, we only have two teams that we’ll actively avoid in the Toronto Maple Leafs and Columbus Blue Jackets, who both play just two games this week. I’d have told you to fade the Blue Jackets even if they had five games since they’re going straight into the gutter without Joonas Korpisalo keeping things respectable.
