What We Learned: How far can Vegas go?

Every time you look at the NHL standings, your eyes zip right to the top.

Not only are the Boston Bruins sitting on 105 points from just 65 games, but the Carolina Hurricanes and New Jersey Devils aren't really that far behind them; both on pace to finish the season in a range of like 115 to 120 points. These are enormous point totals, and even the Toronto Maple Leafs could finish with 110 points pretty comfortably. It's not quite like the Eastern Conference was last season, when all of the top eight teams cleared the century mark, but these clubs are putting an arm's length between themselves and the competition.
