Rinkside Roundtable: Who should be the GM of the Year?

The NHL general managers are holding their annual meeting in Florida, which is perfect timing for the EP Rinkside gang to get together to discuss, well, general managers. 

Simple prompt this week, who should be the NHL GM of the year, and why?

RUSS COHEN: My choice for GM of the year is Tom Fitzgerald. He had ups and downs with the coaching staff and it's worked itself out. He had cap space and added Timo Meier, one of the biggest ads of the deadline. While getting Meier they didn't part with any of their top 3 or 4 rated prospects. They banked on Jack Hughes and Dawson Mercer, as examples and have been rewarded. The Devils last made the playoffs in 2018, and now they have a chance to go more than a round.
