Colorado Avalanche sign coach Jared Bednar to three-year extension

The Colorado Avalanche have signed head coach Jared Bednar to a three-year contract extension that will keep him behind the bench in Denver through the end of the 2026-27 season.

The deal is reportedly worth around $5 million per season once it kicks in according to Darren Dreger.

Bednar led the Avalanche to the Stanley Cup in 2022.

He has been the coach in Colorado since the 2016-17 season, when he took over after Patrick Roy left the franchise and oversaw a team that went from worst to first in the NHL in six years.

Bednar is the only coach to have won the Kelly Cup (ECHL), AHL (Calder Cup), and Stanley Cup is his career.
