Despite the NHL's emphasis on the way the current playoff format creates rivalries, we don't have many this season. Sure, we get a re-do on the Edmonton Oilers and Los Angeles Kings and Toronto Maple Leafs and Tampa Bay Lightning series, but where's the hate?

The answer? This series. When the New Jersey Devils and New York Rangers meet in the playoffs, there's always fireworks, and this should be no exception.

The Devils think they're poised for a decade of contention, and it's hard to blame them. With Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier down the middle, one of the best prospect pools in the sport, and a 47-point turnaround in the standings, the Devils took it a step further and added another prime-aged star in Timo Meier at the deadline.
