Film Room: How Felix Nilsson became a sneaky good prospect for the 2023 NHL Draft
Every year, there seems to be a prospect or two who enter their draft year with low expectations. Players who've managed to fly under the radar, but make an immediate impression and outperform highly-touted peers.
This season, that player has been Felix Nilsson.
Nilsson had already shown promise during his draft-minus-one campaign but hadn't established himself as a full-time fit with the national team or generated much buzz, with player such as Otto Stenberg and Noah Dower Nilsson having done more, especially internationally.
Nilsson's Hlinka Gretzky Cup was also quiet and he only logged one assist in five games, but things started to pick up immediately once the J20 season started. Nilsson was held pointless just once in 12 games, adding 17 points during that same stretch.
