The Winnipeg Jets are setting the table for a rebuild and a reset at the same time

The seemingly annual postseason fallout has begun in Winnipeg. 

After a Game 5 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights, head coach Rick Bowness ripped his team – particularly the top players – in a short, but sweet (or sour) presser. Two days later the players responded in their own public forum.  

"I think he could have been honest with us," Blake Wheeler said. "We could have had those discussions behind closed doors. So I didn't agree with how he handled himself 

Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck replied, "Yeah, he said it perfectly," referring to Wheeler’s commentary. 

Bowness spoke later in the day, he didn’t technically apologize, but he walked back some criticism and how he handled some word choice at the podium in Vegas.
