Where do the Edmonton Oilers go from here?

Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl will, once again, cost more than a quarter of the Edmonton Oilers' total salary cap allocation next season.

And that's not even remotely the issue with this club.

Once again, it's another year of playoff disappointment for the Edmonton Oilers. While these two All-World players didn't perform as well as they had hoped during their second-round loss to the Golden Knights (contributing just three goals and three assists between them in the final four games), it would be hard to find a credible pundit who could honestly claim that they were the problem.

The Oilers, as usual, were let down by their lack of depth, weak defense, and subpar goaltending. Unless a significant transaction takes place, it's unlikely that these areas can be significantly improved next sum
