What We Learned: Depth at the heart of potential Dallas Stars comeback

Hockey is a pretty simple game.

You know what you need to win most games, especially in a best-of-seven series? Three goals. Doesn't really matter where they come from.

But unless you're the Edmonton Oilers, you can't really expect to get two or more goals from your top line most nights. It just doesn't work that way, (almost) no matter how good that line is. That kind of scoring outburst can happen sometimes, sure. Lots of top-six guys in the league will have a three-point game every once in a while. But your strategy can't be "We'll get two goals from the first line and see what happens the rest of the game."

No coincidence, then, that in the three games the Dallas Stars lost in this Western Conference Final, they got two goals from someone who isn't Jason Robertson, Joe Pavelski, or Roope
