After nearly 10 months of watching, dissecting, discussing, and tabulating, the 2023 scouting season is finally complete. The pliers have been tested in every way imaginable – including crossing the cognitive minefield that is the NHL Draft Combine. All that’s left to do now is pick the players. Sounds easy, right?
Not so much.
What transpires below is not a ranking. This is me trying to slip into the minds of 32 NHL General Managers and make selections that could become reality. We’ve investigated historical organizational trends, current needs, and situational circumstances to make these 96 selections. Without fail, many will be incorrect. But many will be right too.
