What We Learned: Which way, Yzerplan?
There aren't many teams that have been as active in free agency so far as the Detroit Red Wings.
In the past few days, they've added, among others, J.T. Compher, Daniel Sprong, Shayne Gostisbehere, Justin Holl, Klim Kostin, Alex Lyon, James Reimer, and Christian Fischer. Do you notice a pattern here? These are to varying degrees good players (with one or two exceptions) but by no means serious needle-movers.
This was also the case last summer. They added guys like Ville Husso, Dominik KubalĂk, Andrew Copp, David Perron, and Ben Chiarot. So now their roster is packed to the gills with perfectly good veterans who help individually and collectively, but the question is how much they actually help.
