As we approach the 2023-24 NHL season, it is becoming increasingly evident just how wide open and uncertain the standings are shaping up to be. It feels somewhat like a transitional year, with the familiar contenders grappling with issues such as aging or a loss of depth. Meanwhile, young rebuilding teams are striving to secure playoff spots, and mid-tier clubs are fighting to maintain relevance and secure their wild-card positions.
