EP Rinkside 2023 Prospect Pool Rankings: No. 21-ranked New York Rangers

It's not often that teams with legitimate Stanley Cup aspirations inject blue chip prospects into their system, but the New York Rangers did precisely that when they snagged a falling Gabriel Perreault at the 2023 NHL Draft. He’s the most talented prospect to join their ranks in at least two years.

Brennan Othmann, ranked right behind Perreault, also has his own set of high-level skills. He’s a completely different player than his ex-USNTDP counterpart, but that’s exactly what’s great about the Rangers system. It’s a diverse one.

It contains smaller, shifty playmakers and larger, shutdown defencemen, blooming power forwards and high-energy, puck-rushing, checkers. The Rangers don’t seem to follow one formula when they draft. They see potential in different assortments of qualities.
