Prospect Pool Rankings

EP Rinkside 2023 NHL Prospect Pool Rankings: No. 18-ranked Calgary Flames

While the complexion of many teams' prospect pools often changes a great deal year over year, the Calgary Flames system has remained largely unchanged. The players that headlined their system in the last two years are still all there and often in the same spot.

The end result is that the Flames have remained mostly stationary on this list. They clocked in at 18 back in 2021, slid to 22 in 2022, and have reprised their ranking at 18 in this year's ranking. This is not a bad sign, however. It just means that the organization has been taking their time with their prospects, keeping them in the NCAA and the AHL a bit longer than most.

Most of the top players in their system remain on the right track, and we'll hopefully see a few of them take that next step in their development this year. Players like Matt Coronato and Jakob Pelletier, for example, could be on their way to full-time NHL roles.
