Dispatches from the Waiver Wire: Sept. 28, 2023

Today was the first day of waiver eligibility for the 2023-24 and seven players hit the waiver wire already.

There are some intriguing names there, so let's just run them down real quick:

Spencer Martin, Vancouver Canucks: Thus was a bit of a surprise, because Martin got into a whopping 29 games for the Canucks last season. But what people don't seem to remember is that while he had a nice little run for a bit there (.950 in six appearances in 2021-22, then .907 in his first eight appearances last season), but if you're feeling good about that, uhh, don't look up how he did in the other 21 appearances (.854). In all, he gave up almost 23 goals below expected last season, and lok, there's a reason he's played nine seasons in the AHL.
