Fantasy Hockey Season Primer: The Metro Division

High-end offensive defencemen are in abundance in the Metro Division. The New Jersey Devils’ Dougie Hamilton was a top fantasy blueliner for the second time in three seasons, the New York Rangers’ Adam Fox has back-to-back 70-point campaigns, the Pittsburgh Penguins now feature both Kris Letang and Erik Karlsson, the Carolina Hurricanes welcomed Tony DeAngelo back to add to Brent Burns and offseason signee Dmitri Orlov, the New York Islanders have a steady, young producer in Noah Dobson, while both the Columbus Blue Jackets’ Zach Werenski and the Washington Capitals’ John Carlson are looking to regain form after an injury-plagued season. It would not be surprising to see three or four of those names among the elite blueline fantasy options by season’s end.
