What We Learned: Edmonton Oilers go back to the well with Jack Campbell

So, it looks like the starting goalie for your 2023-24 Edmonton Oilers is going to be Jack Campbell.

That's interesting, but it probably shouldn't be.

Head coach Jay Woodcroft went into camp saying that it was an open competition, but that was always the kind of thing you'd think a coach would say coming off a season in which his league-minimum backup (.913 save percentage, 18.4 goals saved above expected) badly outplayed his $5-million starter (.887, minus-18.9) and you had to do a little justifying on behalf of the guy making a hell of a lot more money.
