Why 2024 NHL Draft prospect Christian Humphreys flipped his commitment to Michigan
PLYMOUTH, Michigan – Christian Humphreys grew up in a football house.
His grandfather, Harry, played college football at Penn State, his dad, John, played at the University of Alabama.
But growing up in Pittsburgh, at the height of the Sidney Crosby and Yevgeni Malkin-led era, the Humphreys family quickly converted to a hockey house.
“It’s always been kind of a joke about how we got into hockey,” Humphreys told EP Rinkside. “But we would always go to my neighbors house and always played roller hockey, we got really into it. My mom told me that whenever I was a kid and we were on the ice she’d have to drag us off and we’d all start crying.”
Humphreys may be playing a different sport, but he is continuing the family legacy of playing Division I athletics at a traditional powerhouse.
