2024 NHL Draft

Standout performances from the 2023 U18 5 Nations tournament

This November's U18 Five Nations held in Hämeenlinna, Finland was USA's for the taking.

It's not necessarily that they had an all-star roster so much as it was a down year for Sweden while most of Finland, Czechia, and Switzerland's best players were all at the U20 tournament being held at the same time.

So, it wasn't much of a surprise that the USA emerged from this tournament victorious, winning three of four games and outscoring the opposition 28-10 across all of their contests. The only blemish on their record was a terrible third period against Sweden, in which the Tre Kronor hung six goals on the Americans in the span of 18 minutes to tie the game before sealing the comeback win in the shootout.

Host Finland finished in second place with their win over Sweden in the last game of the event, even if they only scored 10 goals in four games total. Czechia took two of their games to overtime, but lost both of them, one against Switzerland among them.

For scouts, the tournament featured a ton of draft-eligible talent to evaluate and take notes on. So, let's dive into the players who were able to stand out.
