Whether the truth ever comes out or not, the Chicago Blackhawks did the right thing when they terminated Corey Perry’s contract. 

An incident was reported, the Blackhawks took time to investigate, and ultimately found enough to terminate the contract with cause. Neither the NHLPA nor the player objected, which is a strong indication that the punishment, at minimum, fit whatever the crime was. 

Now, we should always be cautious when it comes to Chicago. The Blackhawks, by nature of how the organization handled the sexual assault cover-up with Kyle Beach, may never earn back the benefit of the doubt. 

So, in many ways, the Perry situation was a litmus test for how or if the Blackhawks have learned any lessons.
