EP Rinkside NCAA December power rankings

The holiday break is here and we have a very different look in our top 5.

Boston University and Boston College have surged from Nos. 9 and 5, respectively, to tie for first place in our ranking. They take over from previous No. 1 and No. 2 Wisconsin (tumbling to seventh) and Maine (now sixth).

Besides that, Quinnipiac is the only holdover from the last top-five, staying a strong No. 3.

Once again, there's significant consensus among our expert panel (if I do say so myself) of J.D. BurkeSara CivianSean Shapiro, and myself. When considering our top 20 teams in the country, only 21 received a vote in this latest power ranking. Sorry to Cornell, the one team any of us voted for but which didn't make the cut.
