Fantasy Focus: Sustainable or not?

When fantasy skaters have a good half-season, the question is always whether it can persist. With 2023 fresh behind us, let’s look at some fantasy performances that sustained themselves from the second half of the 2022-23 season to the first half of this 2023-24 season. Data will be from Natural Stat Trick, unless otherwise indicated. 

Carter Verhaeghe

Of the top-10 per-minute goal scorers from the second half of the 2022-23 campaign, nine of them saw a drop of at least 0.47 goals per game in the first half of our current season. The one that didn’t is Carter Verhaeghe, who has 18 goals in 36 games thus far and his drop of 0.12 goals/60 minutes was a fraction of every other player in that top-10.
