EP Rinkside 3 Stars: It was all about the "breaking news" this week

Just want to quickly shout out one of my favourite players in the league: Elias Pettersson

He had seven goals and five assists in just four games over the past week for the Vancouver Canucks, accounting for more than 40 percent of his points since the start of December.

The reason this is notable is that before this week, he was 46th in scoring since Dec. 1, and had just six goals in 14 games. Now he's tied for fifth, with 13 goals in 18. That's a big week. His shooting percentage over this stretch jumped from 12.5 percent to 20.3 percent. It's extremely funny how hot he's been. And he's still not the leading scorer on the Canucks, somehow.

What an absurd season they're having in Vancouver.
