Unnumbered Thoughts: Connor McDavid has taken his spot as NHL's premier power player

TORONTO, Ontario – Connor McDavid finally took his rightful place as one of the NHL’s premier stakeholders this week. 

We know on the ice this has been the standard for a while. 

The 27-year-old is the NHL’s best player, has three MVP awards, and his 153 points last season put him in rarified air as just the fifth individual in league history to bag a 150-point season. 

But as much as McDavid terrified opponents on the ice, as much as he'd already become must-watch TV for fans, he hadn’t fully capitalized on the off-ice pull his on-ice accolades afforded him.
