Take Town: A series of questions

The thing I can't figure out with the New Jersey Devils is whether they've just decided to wave the white flag on the season.

They had a good chunk of time off around the Stadium Series game where they killed the Philadelphia Flyers, which would have been a great time to fire the coach, get a goaltender, or maybe even both. But maybe pummeling Philadelphia in that outdoor game was enough to get them to go, "Actually, we should be fine."

The problem is that they then had four games in six games, then hit the road for a swing through California. They've gone 2-3-0 in these last five games, and they play the Anaheim Ducks and Los Angeles Kings to close out the trip, then return home a few days before the deadline, which is a week from tomorrow. Every point they fritter away between now and then
