New Jersey Devils fire Lindy Ruff for some stuff that's his fault and even more that's not
File this one under "too little, too late."
The New Jersey Devils wrapped up an ugly trip to California with back-to-back losses, plunging their playoff chances into the territory reserved for broke stoners outside a Grateful Dead show. They need a miracle. At this point, they would have to make up a seven-point gap on the Philadelphia Flyers, and eight on either of the Wild Card teams, and with this roster — and particularly this goaltending — that's just not a realistic path forward.
And so, upon their return from the Golden State, they dismissed coach Lindy Ruff and replaced him, on an interim basis, with ex-Canucks boss Travis Green.
