Boston Bruins trade for Andrew Peeke from the Columbus Blue Jackets

The Boston Bruins added defenceman Andrew Peeke in a trade with the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday.

Jakub Zboril is headed the other way in the deal.

Peeke, 25, has played 23 games this season for Columbus. He is averaging 15 minutes, 37 seconds in time on ice, and has seen his role relegated from top-four minutes the past two seasons.

Peeke is in year one of a three-year deal with an AAV of $2.75 million.

A right-handed shot defenceman, Peeke likely slides onto the third defensive pair, potentially replacing Kevin Shattenkirk

Zboril has spent the entire season in the AHL with the Providence Bruins. He played parts of the past three seasons in the NHL with Boston.
