What We Learned: Same old Toronto Maple Leafs?
The Toronto Maple Leafs lost on Saturday, playing well enough but losing by such a wide margin that the solid play didn't matter to anyone.
They lost 5-1 to a team that has recently humiliated them in the playoffs, so no one wanted to hear about the Deserve-to-Win-o-Meter. Every playoff loss is somehow evocative of a previous playoff loss in the Auston Matthews era, the details of this one eerily similar to something that happened six years ago. Every game has some bizarre stat about how, if you slice it just the right way, the Leafs have been outscored like 28-0 in a specific scenario. Every miscue is a clear sign that Sheldon Keefe is borderline incompetent and couldn't get a school lunch ready.
And I'm not trying to say any of that is either true or untrue. At this point, it's at least 60
