Fantasy Hockey Focus: The Russians are coming

As the playoffs in the NHL continue, let’s check in on some prospects who have already concluded their playoffs. The KHL awarded their Gargin Cup on April 24th as Metallurg Magnitogorsk swept Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. Magnitogorsk has several interesting players to look at so let’s start there, then mention another couple.

Ilya Nabokov, G - 2024 Draft Eligible

Top of the list is their goaltender Ilya Nabokov. Unfortunately, he is not related to longtime San Jose Sharks goalie Yevgeni Nabokov. Iyla Nabokov is a bit undersized and is likely the reason that at 21 years old, has not been drafted. Ilya, like Yevgeni, is just 6-foot-0, but that didn’t stop him from posting a ridiculous .942 save percentage and 1.82 goals against average across the 22 playoff games.
