EP Rinkside's 3 Stars from the 2024 U18 World Hockey Championship quarterfinals
ESPOO, Finland – The medal rounds of the 2024 U18 World Hockey Championship started today with four games of quarterfinal action, with each of the eight teams in play battling it out for the four spots in the semifinals on Saturday.
The day's events started with Kazakhstan and Norway in Vantaa. The winner would secure their place at the 2025 event in Fresco, Texas, while the loser would be relegated.
Kazakhstan already had a lot to be proud of in this tournament, with their first win in the event's history, and they had their sights set on staying next year. And they made a show of it, coming back from a 5-3 deficit with less than 10 minutes left in regulation, scoring twice in the final three minutes to even things up and send this game to 3-on-3 overtime.
