Memorial Cup 3 Stars: Hunter Haight and Michael Misa lead Saginaw to 2-0 start
SAGINAW, Michigan – It might not have been the prettiest win for the Saginaw Spirit, but they found a way and beat the Drummondville Voltigeurs 4-3.
As was their undoing in the OHL’s Western Conference Final, self-inflicted errors by the Spirit proved to be costly early on. There was an ill-timed, aggressive breakout by Jorian Donovan that led to a turnover on the Voltigeurs’ first goal, and a fanned clearing attempt by Braden Haché on the second goal.
And just when Saginaw had clawed their way back to tie the game, a costly offensive zone penalty from Calem Mangone resulted in Drummondville retaking the lead in the final minute of the second period.
But the Spirit dug in for the third period, and the third line of Michael Misa, Hunter Haight, and Nicholas Sima was instrumental in completing
