Memorial cup 3 Stars: Easton Cowan sends London to Memorial Cup Final

SAGINAW, Michigan – It was an OHL rematch that lived up to all the hype and expectations, and ended with London beating Saginaw once again, as the Knights topped the Spirit 4-2 to advance straight to the championship game of the Memorial Cup.

A controversial opening goal by Alex Christopoulos got the Spirit on the board early in the first. On replays, it looked as though the puck might have been kicked in, but the officials did not review the goal, though it did cause a lengthy delay as the Knights bench protested their decision not to challenge the play.

“Everyone’s got a different view,” a diplomatic Dale Hunter responded post-game when asked if he believed the puck was kicked in.
