Memorial Cup

Saginaw and Moose Jaw draw on Past Motivations and Lessons for Memorial Cup Semifinal

SAGINAW, Michigan – So far, the Memorial Cup has unfolded just as the Ontario Hockey League would have scripted it.

The OHL champion London Knights went 3-0 in round-robin play and will compete for the championship on Sunday. The host Saginaw Spirit finished second in round-robin play, with their only loss coming against London.

As a league, the OHL remained undefeated against the Western Hockey League and Quebec Major Junior Hockey League champions, and the round-robin finale between Saginaw and London was the closest and, so far, the best game of the tournament.

It’ll be a packed barn for the championship either way, but just imagine what another Saginaw-London epic would look like on Sunday with the Memorial Cup on the line.

That’s the future the Moose Jaw Warriors are looking to disrupt.
