"I think we wrote a pretty good script," Saginaw Spirit complete story to win Memorial Cup

SAGINAW, Michigan – The Memorial Cup in his arms, Zayne Parekh struggled to put it all into words. 

“I have no idea what to tell you,” Parekh said. “We just won the Mem cup, but I don’t know what happened. Like I don’t know. I’m sorry I can’t give you an answer, but I know I’m a Memorial Cup champion.”

Parekh was on the ice when Josh Bloom scored with 22 seconds remaining, picking up the second assist as the Saginaw Spirit defeated the London Knights 4-3 in dramatic fashion on home ice. 

“I just threw my stick in the air and jumped on Bloomer, I don’t even know how the play happened,” Parekh said. “I’m gonna have to watch it back, but I think we wrote a pretty good script.” 

It sure was.
