Igor Chernyshov is a rare breed of young Russian prospects, a true power forward with legitimate, top-six NHL potential.
Coming into this season, the six-foot-two winger already had a couple of minutes of KHL ice time under his belt and even managed his first goal, becoming the youngest goalscorer in Dynamo Moskva history. He scored at a point-per-game clip at the MHL level before picking up an injury in a game against SKA-1946 that ended his season.
Having to undergo surgery, Chernyshov lost valuable training time with Dynamo. He stuck with the KHL side for practices when he was cleared to return to the ice but missed his chances to get into the preseason squad and, in turn, returned to the junior team to start the regular season.
