Here’s why this Stanley Cup Final matchup rocks. It's very simple.

Florida should be the favourite. They are the deeper team, both up front and on the blue line. Demonstrably. They also have a goalie who didn't briefly lose his job in the second round.

But it might not matter at all because Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl are on the other team.

Florida can dominate at 5-on-5. They've done it basically the entire playoff. But in the regular season, Edmonton was the best full-strength team in the league, mostly because of those two top players. When they're off the ice, the Oilers were still around a 53 percent xGF% team, only getting outscored 65-68. So, since the Oilers were plus-43 when either or both of those guys were on, the season was a runaway for them at 5-on-5.
