Sergei Bobrovski dazzles to open Stanley Cup Final with Game 1 shutout
SUNRISE, Florida – Back in September, in one of his first practices with the Florida Panthers, Anthony Stolarz remembers making a save in a 2-on-1 drill.
There was immediately a loud stick bang of appreciation coming from the corner, courtesy of Sergei Bobrovski.
“Right away you are with a new team, and you don’t know a guy, and there is a Vezina Trophy winner just banging his stick for you,” Stolarz said. “It’s something that just picks you up.”
Alex Lyon, the Panthers backup during the 2022-23 season, and now with the Detroit Red Wings has similar stories about Bobrovsky. When Lyon took the net at the end of the regular season in 2023, Lyon says Bobrovski went out of his way to make sure he had success.
