What We Learned: It's all on the Edmonton Oilers' big guns now
While one team has come back from a 3-0 hole in the Stanley Cup Final, it happened so long ago that it might as well have not happened at all.
It was 1942 and the Detroit Red Wings, coached by a guy who was born in 1894, went up 3-0 on the Toronto Maple Leafs, a team with guys named Bingo and Bucko. Could they skate backwards then? Could they pass the puck forward? It's impossible to know. These are events that occurred seven months before "Casablanca" was released in theaters. Doesn't feel like it has much relevance to the modern game.
The question now is whether the Edmonton Oilers can accomplish the feat of a reverse sweep for what I'm going to say is the first time it really happened. The answer, I think, is that they definitely can.
