2024 NHL Draft

Film Room: Jett Luchanko could be a long-term fan-favourite in the NHL

Every draft class has its win-at-all-costs players; the types who never quit on a play and thrive in the chaos they create.

Jett Luchanko is one of those players.

The speedy forward went from a fourth-liner in the 2022-23 season to Guelph's No. 1 centre and power play creator, claiming the role Matthew Poitras' early jump to the NHL opened.

Entering the season, Luchanko looked like a mid-round candidate. After a breakout start and steady rise, he could be picked as high as the mid-first round.

With a combination of certainty and upside, it's easy to see why.

Overpowering speed and physical skills

It's not just powerful, deep strides that power Luchanko's speed game – his energetic approach and nonstop movement are equally important. He accelerates through every pass and reception, never stop
