What We Learned: What's the Blues' offer-sheet endgame?

A lot of the talk about those exciting twin offer sheets the St. Louis Blues handed out last week has been how it affects the Edmonton Oilers.

Understandably so. The Oilers just went to Game 7 of a Stanley Cup Final, improved at a number of positions on the first day of free agency, and even with some question marks, seem poised to dominate the Western Conference once again in 2024-25. Basically anything they do is going to be headline news for at least the next year, and probably at least a few seasons longer.

This was basically everyone's take on the matter: 

1) The offer to Philip Broberg in particular was ridiculous. Elliotte Friedman reported that Broberg was looking for a deal a few million dollars lower than the $4.58-millionish AAV the Blues offered him.
