Film Room: Viggo Björck proving himself as challenger for top of the 2026 NHL Draft
While Gavin McKenna has been a clear-cut favourite to go first overall in the 2026 draft for a while now, Viggo Björck managed to quickly generate momentum as his primary challenger over the course of last season.
Björck played for a smaller program but managed to rack up eye-popping counting stats and generate some of the prettiest highlights among European prospects.
With most top prospects already having moved to bigger organizations by his age, it's challenging to pinpoint just how impressive Björck’s production truly was. However, we can make some estimations.
During the fall stretch, when larger programs like Djurgårdens IF, AIK, and Södertälje SK were playing in the same J18 regional group, Björck averaged 2.11 points per game, the second-best mark in the league.
